Breakdown 4/20

Great job this past week everybody! I felt that we really rocked on My Savior Lives and You Are Good! I was very proud of all of you and the sound that we had together.

Special note of thanks this week goes to Jen - singing alto for the first time!!! Very impressive.

Special special note of thanks to Nathan - great job on Come Together and slap bass (You Are Good)

For the team up this week... I've got some good news and some bad news...

The good news is... we're doing two of the same songs we did last time, so practice should be simple.
The bad news is... we're doing two of the same songs we did last time, so practice should be boring.

No, no, just kidding, we always have me to make some stupid jokes and Courtney to ask some intriguing questions that no one will understand -- not even Andrew -- right? We'll have fun team.

All jokes aside... here's the breakdown:

Prelude - Home by Daughtry
*Song on .mp3 is in F# major, but we are playing it in G major like on sheet music.*
Entire band will play on this song.
I will play melody on either guitar/keyboard -- it will NOT be sung this week.
We will play Intro, Verse1, Chorus, Verse2, Chorus, End.
Song is very repetitive and has a driving, strumming acoustic throughout (heads up Scott)

Song - All Because of Jesus
Vocalists - same as last time... I sing Verse 1, Andrew sings Verse 2, harmony on Chorus, unison on bridge.
Band - play exactly like we did two weeks ago (a.k.a. same as .mp3)

Song - Happy Day
Vocalists - Sing all verses, choruses, and bridge -- harmony on chorus and bridge. Do not sing the "forever I am changed" after the chorus -- this is an adlib for the worship leader.
Band - play exactly like .mp3, starts with drums and lead electric.
Acoustic player should pick throughout verses, strum through chorus and bridge.

Song - Jesus Paid It All
Vocalists - same as last time... I sing Verse 1 and Chorus 1, then you sing remainder of song (Verses 2 & 3, Chorus 2 &3, Bridge) -- harmony on Bridge (soprano sings alto and vice versa)
Band - remember to count this song in 3 (1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, etc...)
Acoustic player starts this song and strums throughout.
Electric player fills underneath choruses.
Band enters after Chorus 1.

Song - Home
This will be sung by myself and we will play it exactly like the .mp3
Drummer needs to keep a steady, rock ballad tempo.
Acoustic guitar needs to strum throughout entire song (verses, chorus, etc...)
Lead guitar plays filler line -- Electric guitar plays distorted driving chorus
Song Flow: Verse1-Chorus-Verse2-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus
*Between 2nd verse and chorus, you have to notice the "D.S. al Coda" marking (takes you back to bottom of pg. 2) then notice "To Coda" at bottom of pg. 3 (takes you to bottom of pg. 5) where you see "Coda."* PLEASE NOTE THIS.

Can't wait. Should be fun. And don't forget...

This week we have a MANDATORY meeting during the 10:30 service after the band/vocalists exit the stage. Please meet outside the auditorium -- and keep quiet since the service will be in progress.
