Huge practice this week guys! It's a lot of material, and I will have your music for June 8th at practice... so just learn it from the web site and use the resources online until that point. If you want to print your own music to practice with for the June 8th service, then please do so, but I will have your books for you at practice on Thursday.
Here we go... June 1
Prelude - Baba O'Reilly by The Who
We will play the entire song (we will be cutting the long intro and making it shorter).
We do have the synthesizer intro on a loop that will be run by the sound guys.
Lead electric plays melody.
I will play piano on this song.
No acoustic guitar needed.
Pay attention to the notes I wrote in your music (Jeremy, Scott, Nathan)
Bryce, towards the end of the song, the tempo slows down DRAMATICALLY, please notice this and be prepared for it.
Song - Let God Arise
Vocalists - NEW SONG! Learn melody on verses (we are doing it again June 15), but I will be singing BOTH verses this week since it's new so that the congregation can learn it easier. Harmony on "our God is a God who saves..." and chorus.
Band - Play exactly like .mp3 EXCEPT for acoustic intro...
Start the song with snare roll and electric riff.
Bass needs to play rhythm exactly as on .mp3 (Jeremy, slide from A-B) you will hear what I mean on the track.
Acoustic guitar should strum at "Our God is a God who saves..." and chorus... lay the chords down on verses and the bridge.
SONG FLOW: Intro-Verse1-Chorus-Interlude-Verse2-Chorus-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus-Chorus-Outro
Song - Wonderful Maker
Vocalists - harmony on chorus only -- sing chorus only. Courtney will sing the harmony on the verses.
Band - listen to .mp3 for reference... we will play it close to this, pay attention to my notes.
Drums should not come in until "What a wonderful maker" -- closed hi-hat, straight beat.
Bass & electric should come in with drums.
I will start the song on piano, acoustic guitar can strum underneath me at beginning.
SONG FLOW: Verse1-Verse2-Chorus-Verse3-Chorus-Chorus
Song - Bless the Broken Road
I will sing this. Nathan will sing backup.
We will play this EXACTLY like the .mp3 -- every little nuance, here's some hints...
Drums... come in on first chorus with hi-hat... come in on rim, NOT SNARE, after first chorus through the second verse. Closed hi-hat on 2nd chorus with snare. Open hi-hat for bridge. Make sure to get all the stops.
Bass... come in at "I got lost a time or two..." (top of page 2)... Make sure to get all the root notes on the chorus
Electric... come in at 2nd chorus...solo after 2nd chorus
Acoustic... come in when you hear the picking on the .mp3 during the intro...strum during chorus and bridge... pick during verses
Ok... everyone got it? Let's move on... June 8th
Prelude - Alive by Pearl Jam
We will NOT play the entire song.
I will sing the melody.
Play exactly like the .mp3, pay attention to song flow.
No acoustic guitar needed on this song.
SONG FLOW: Intro-Verse1-Chorus-Verse2-Chorus-End
Song - Creed
I will sing this. Andrew will sing backup harmony.
Band - play exactly like the .mp3, but we will shorten the LONG intro.
Acoustic guitar should strum THE ENTIRE SONG.
Pretty simple song... everyone just pay attention to the .mp3 for your part
Song - Let the Praises Ring
Vocalists - harmony on chorus. Tenor harmony on verses (where heard on the .mp3). Sing entire song.
Band - play exactly like .mp3
Drummer clicks off and electric guitar starts slightly before entire band.
SONG FLOW: Intro-Verse1-Chorus-Intro-Verse2-Chorus-Intro-Bridge-Chorus-Outro
Song - All To You
Vocalists - harmony on chorus. Tenor harmony on, "I've searched and came up..." Sing entire song.
Band - play exactly like .mp3
Guitar solo will be long, so continue repeating C#m - F# chords until it's over
SONG FLOW: Intro-Verse1-PreChorus-Chorus-Intro-Verse2-PreChorus-Chorus-Chorus-Guitar Solo-Chorus-Chorus-Outro
Song - You Are the One
Vocalists - I will sing verse 1. Harmony on chorus. Sing rest of song.
Band - play like .mp3, we will do a shorter version
Drums & bass come in at 2nd verse.
Acoustic guitar should strum throughout song.
Do not repeat chorus at the end... just one time through at the end.
SONG FLOW: Intro-Verse1-Chorus-Verse2-Chorus-Instrumental-Chorus-Outro
Ok... lots of material... especially for the ones of us who have to play both weeks. Good luck in your practice. Remember that you will have to print out the music for June 8th to practice it until Thursday.
